The Hamas promotion of terror and violence among Palestinian children continues unabated. This past week, Hamas placed pictures on its web site (see pictures below) of children in combat roles and combat dress, taken during "Palestinian Children's Festival" held in Yemen. Yemen News reported: "A Hamas representative [in Yemen] Jamal Issa … stated that the Palestinian children fight alongside the adults in the resistance." These pictures were on the Hamas web site [www.palestinian-info.net] home page for a week, and can be seen today at this link:
Hamas Duplicity: Talk Peace in English and deny it Arabic By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook- March 23, 2006
In its attempt to gain international legitimacy, Hamas is presenting a conciliatory face to the Western media, while rejecting peace to its own people in Arabic, and even denying that the conciliatory statements were made. In the latest example, Hamas Prime Minister-designate Ismail Haniyah told CBS on March 16 that he hoped to some day sign a peace agreement with Israel. A Hamas member of Parliament immediately told the Palestinian Authority media that the CBS report was "unfounded," and part of a "crazy campaign which aims at embarrassing and confusing the Palestinians and undermining the trust of the masses in Hamas." [Al Hayat Al Jadida, March 19, 2006] Haniyah was interviewed on CBS news and said, among other things, that he was "seeking a peace settlement and stability in this region," "looking forward to peace and tranquility in this region," and "seeking American administration to create this missing peace." [www.cbsnews.com] Hamas Denies statements were made: A Hamas MP, speaking in Arabic to a PA newspaper, immediately denied these statements as lies, and part of a conspiracy of the US media to damage the true image of the Hamas:
It should be noted that the reason for this strong rejection of the willingness for peace with Israel is that it violates the most basic tenet of Hamas' belief, that Islam demands the destruction of Israel. Article 13 of the Hamas charter states: ". . . Renouncing any part of Palestine [i.e. accepting Israel] means renouncing part of the religion." Suicide terror for children is now being actively promoted on the Hamas children's web site al-fateh.net. The new material posted yesterday is a short fictional story for children, glorifying a young girl's suicide terror attack. It describes how she calmly progresses, step by step, planning and executing her death in a suicide terror attack. The girl heroically leads "Zionist soldiers" to their death, all the while knowing she will be killed along with them. In death she is said to be "smiling, lying on the grass, because she died as a Shahida (Martyr for Allah) for Palestine." The story is entitled "A Palestinian Girl's Heroism." The illustration with the story on the web shows a young smiling girl with four candles. The image of a living, smiling child in a story about the death of a child appears to echo a familiar message in PA children's education, that those who die as Shahids (Martyrs for Allah) are not really dead. The Jerusalem Post reports today on Hamas's attempt to deny responsibility for this and other web sites administered from its Beirut office. The Jerusalem Post article is reprinted below, following the translation of the short story from the web site. It should be noted that after PMW publicized that the Hamas children's website was encouraging children to seek martyrdom, the Russian server (CORBINA TELECOM Network Operations) immediately closed down the website on March 9, 2006. However, the site reopened a couple of days later and is now being hosted by a Malaysian webhoster (Eastgate;Telekom Multimedia of Telekom Malaysia Berhad;Telekom Exchange II, Jalan Lingkaran Fauna). From The Jerusalem Post, March 16, 2006 Hamas denies running kids' suicide Web site By Orly Halpern Hamas has denied charges by two Israeli organizations that a cartoon-style Web site for kids that praises suicide bombings belongs to the militant Islamic movement. The al-fateh.net site encourages children to commit suicide in order to kill Israeli soldiers and civilians. On Wednesday the site had an item telling a short story about a young girl who knowingly leads Israeli soldiers to a bomb and dies with them. The story said that "Suhad became a shahida (martyr) lying on the grass and smiling because she was a shahida for Palestine." Itamar Marcus, Director of Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), an Israeli organization which monitors and translates Palestinian Arabic language media, said that the site, along with palestine-info.com and palestinegallery.com are official Hamas sites. "A man by the name of Nizar Hussein who sits in Lebanon runs those site and he runs the children's Hamas Web site from the same server," said Marcus. According to Dr. Reuven Ehrlich, a former army general who now directs an organization called the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center said Hussein works in the same office as leading Hamas official in Lebanon, Osama Hamdan. "We know and assume that they are working together," said Ehrlich. "I checked it out with my Israelis sources and they confirmed this. I can't reveal who they are." According to a Hamas official in Ramallah, Hamas has long been falsely accused of running the palestine-info.com Web site. "You should ask [the Israelis] where they have this information from," Farhat Abu-Assad, a Hamas official in Ramallah, told The Jerusalem Post. Abu-Assad said that many Islamic sites sympathize with Hamas "but that does not make them Hamas Web sites. The [people who run these sites] are private individuals that might sympathize with Hamas, but Hamas does not recognize these Web sites." Marcus said the proof is in the content. "The fact is that they use these sites to publicize their announcements," said Marcus. "That is their way of getting their messages out to the world." But Abu-Assad said the announcements are available to all and appear in many Palestinian media agencies including the official Palestinian news agency WAFA and in Maan, an Internet news Web site. Marcus added that palestinegallery.com has materials that could not be available to others. "There is no way in the world that they can get these films of suicide bombings on these Web sites." does not have a declared official Web site is because it might be closed
down for political reasons. Indeed, in an interview with UPI on October
10, Osama Hamdan said that Hamas did not have its own Internet site and
that political pressure caused down its former site to be shut down three
years ago. However PMW noted that some countries which host servers, such as Malaysia, would not close a Hamas Web site. This promotion of Shahada death for children is not new in the PA. The Palestinian Authority through its televised videos and children's textbooks has taught children to see death through Shahada as "sweet", desirable, and something to aspire.

Quntar awarded honorary Palestinian citizenship
Introduction Societies measure their heroes in different ways. Some societies honor athletes or performers. Others celebrate caregivers and humanitarian workers. The Palestinians, on the other hand, have consistently chosen to honor murderers as their national icons. The Palestinian Authority has announced that it was granting honorary citizenship to two Arab terrorists who killed Israelis – a Lebanese terrorist, Samir Quntar, and Jordanian terrorist, Sultan Al-Ajaluni. Both are serving life sentences in Israeli jails. In 1979 Lebanese terrorist Samir Quntar murdered Danny Haran and his four-year-old daughter, Einat. Danny's daughter Yael, aged two, suffocated while hiding in a crawl space with her mother. Quntar is serving multiple life sentences totaling 542 years in prison. Smadar Haran, wife and mother of the murder victims, described the murder in the Washington Post in 2003:

Verbal attacks against the US and the West are increasing in the Palestinian Authority press. In different articles this week, the editor-in-chief of the PA daily defined Western leaders as copies of Hitler, American neo-conservative ideology was defined as Nazi "Aryan supremacy doctrine," American policy was defined as "fascist" and the cause of Arab extremism, and an article in the same PA daily scorned the US for "introducing dubious elements amongst the Muslims, such as democratic ideology." This hatred of the US was also expressed in anti-US political cartoons, such as this one at right. It presents the crimes of individual soldiers, who were punished for their actions, as Bush's personal "democracy." PMW has reported in that past that the frequent hatred expressed towards the US by the PA has had significant impact on Palestinian public opinion. A recent European poll found that 65% of Palestinians "support Al-Qaeda actions in the USA and Europe." Hamas has a special web site for children, al-fateh.net, where violence is glorified and death for Allah is labelled a "victory." Al-Fateh means 'The Conqueror.' The Shahada deaths of terrorists during attacks against Israel are presented to children as a time of celebration. A mother is quoted on the website as saying that when she heard that her son had become a shahid (martyr), she bought dates, candies and coffee to give out. The website features a page entitled 'Stories of the Shahids.' The current story honors Hamas suicide terrorist Naseem Ja'abari who killed 16 people in a bus bombing in Beersheba on August 31, 2004. The drawing of the religious girl participating in the violence (at right) appears both on the homepage as well as a second page with a poem glorifying fighting, Jihad, and Shahada (Death for Allah). PA TV: Mom sad daughter arrested, By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook - February 27, 2006
A new interview on official Palestinian Authority television offers a chilling twist on the popular TV topic - Palestinian mothers' support for their children's suicide terror missions. The interview features the mother of Wafa Al-Bas, a 21-year-old Palestinian woman who was arrested at the Erez border crossing in June 2005 with a 20-pound bomb inside her underwear. Her target was the outpatient clinic of Soroka Hospital in Beersheba, where she had been receiving regular treatments for serious burns to 45 per cent of her body from a gas stove explosion in her home. Her greatest wish, she said later, was to kill 30 to 50 Israelis, including children. The hospital attack would likely have killed or maimed the Israeli doctor who had saved her life. In last week's PA TV interview with Wafa's parents, her mother says the event was hard for her - not because her daughter was on a suicide mission, but because she was arrested. The mother says she knew that her daughter had wanted to be a martyr since she was a little girl, but the mother hadn't encouraged her - not because the mother opposed the idea of suicide bombing, but because Wafa was female. "If it was a boy, I would have supported, but since she is a girl I discouraged." Once again, the message to Palestinian society from broadcasts like this is that suicide bombing is not wrong. Indeed, it is seen as an honor and a joy to raise a child to be a suicide bomber - at least if that child is a son. The homepage of Az A-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of terror organization Hamas, features a black rectangle at the top of the page in which a Star of David appears. This is followed immediately by an image of a nuclear explosion that erases the star. Then Arabic words appear:
When clicking on the window more information appears glorifying this terrorist cell, captured by Israel. The scene of the atomic destruction of the Star of David repeats every few seconds.
Hamas plans to kidnap Israeli soldiers By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook - February 15, 2006 Hamas is making it clear in its internal Arabic language expression that it has not changed from a terrorist organization, despite its sweeping victory in the recent Palestinian parliamentary elections. A Hamas official has announced that it plans to gain the release of Palestinian terrorist prisoners in Israeli jails by kidnapping Israeli soldiers. Contrary to the more moderate English language pronouncements of Hamas that have been publicized recently, in Arabic to its own people it continues to proudly portray the image of a terror group. In an article in Tuesday's Al-Ayyam, the Hamas representative of the 'National and Islamic Forces Prisoners Committee' was quoted as saying that if a Hamas-led government won't be able to secure the release of the prisoners by peaceful means, it will "take care" of the issue by kidnapping Israeli soliders. Below is a quote from the article, which was headlined, "How will a Hamas government act regarding the prisoners in the prisons of the Occupation?"

The Hamas website this week presented the parting video messages of two Hamas suicide terrorists. One message was for Jews, whose blood Hamas promises to drink until Jews "leave the Muslim countries," and the second to a mother, as she helps dress her son for battle prior to his suicide terror mission. Palestinian Media Watch has noted that on numerous occasions, the final messages of Palestinians that went on suicide missions reflected the messages they had been hearing in the Palestinian Authority media. You can view the music video by clicking here. After filming their goodbyes, the two Hamas suicide terrorists went to the Karni Crossing and killed an Israeli soldier. The clip includes scenes of preparation of a tunnel, and hiding explosives in the tunnel. Hamas placed the video on its website in February 2006 - after the Palestinian parliamentary elections. The terrorist act glorified in the video occurred over a year ago, on December 7, 2004.

The world is witnessing violent Muslim reactions to caricatures of Muhammad published in a Danish paper. In the Palestinian Authority, Palestinian gunmen threatened European Union officials, the Palestine Religious Scholars Association has called for a boycott of Danish products and, in the most recent development, the Temporary International Presence in Hebron has been forced out of its premises by Palestinian violence. Palestinian Media Watch has documented numerous of cartoons from Palestinian Authority newspapers featuring extreme anti-Semitism, and we are redistributing a selection of them below. In response to numerous queries, Palestinian Media Watch would like to stress that there are no Arab caricatures insulting the Hebrew prophets or Jesus. This is for a simple reason - Islam presents the Hebrew prophets and Jesus as Muslims who prophesied Islam. They teach that both Moses and Jesus received Islam from Allah and that Jews and Christians later distorted these teachings. As such, Judaism and Christianity are said to be perversions of Allah's only true word - Islam. Thus Moses, Abraham, all the prophets of the Hebrew Bible and Jesus are respected Muslims and are not ridiculed. However Jewish and Christian symbols are frequently used, such as in the portrayal of Jews crucifying "Palestine" in the picture above. Jews appear in the Arab media as subhuman, cannibals and as various animals, such as snakes, scorpions and spiders – often posing some form of threat to humanity. Below is a small selection.
New Hamas Video: By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook - February 6, 2006
The Palestinians have concluded from Israel's withdrawal from Gaza that violence, not negotiations, is effective in their ongoing effort to weaken and eventually destroy Israel. This is according to a new video just released on the official Hamas Web site. Images of Israelis being evacuated from Gaza and destroyed Israeli buildings are shown while these words are sung:
These last words - rejecting negotiations - are sung over the famous images of agreements being signed by Shimon Peres and Ariel Sharon with Palestinian leaders. While the words, the "homeland is returning," are sung, an image of the Israeli city of Haifa is displayed, stressing that the Palestinians see all of Israel as their "homeland" to be targeted. The words, "Let the enemies leave the entire land! And take their holy books which are all black," are sung while images of Jews in prayer are shown. The clear message to the Palestinian viewer is that the Gaza withdrawal is both the defeat of Israel through terror, and a precedent for the future. Accordingly, neither the Palestinians' means nor goals have changed: Violence and terror are seen as leading to Israel's continued withdrawals and eventual destruction. Hamas Remains Hamas By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook - January 22, 2006 As the Hamas terror organization's rating in the polls rises daily, and with the PA elections just days away, the world media have been eager to report that Hamas has been presenting a more moderate image. Since 1993, the media have been repeatedly guilty of exaggerating Palestinian public relations messages of moderation, and presenting them as sincere changes in Palestinian ideology. However, this rush by the world media to crown Hamas as moderate is simply wrong. Mahmoud Al-Zahar, a senior Hamas official, appeared on a Palestinian Authority Television Hamas election ad and reiterated that there has been no change in the Hamas goal to destroy Israel. The unchanging Hamas religious ideology, that all of Israel is on Islamic land and therefore Islam demands it be destroyed, is stated unequivocally when Al-Zahar says, "Palestine is a land of Waqf [Islamic trust], which cannot be given up." PA Poem: There is no Bin Laden By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook - January 16, 2006 A poem appearing on the opinion page of today's Al-Hayat Al-Jadida gives insight into the Palestinian Authority worldview. The blaming of Arab Muslims for Islamic terrorism, from Bin Laden to Al-Zarqawi in Iraq, is described as a fantasy invented by "occupation forces" to "justify war and disasters." The poet's questioning the existence of Bin Laden is consistent with a Palestinian denial of Arab Muslim responsibility for the World Trade Center Attacks. A 2003 public opinion poll revealed that only 46% of Palestinians believed that Bin Laden was responsible for the attacks against the US on September 11, 2001. Twenty-six per cent felt that Israel was behind the attacks. This refusal to acknowledge Muslim responsibility for Islamic terror is not unique to Palestinian society. A popular music video from Egypt, which you can view by clicking here, shows an animated cartoon image of Ariel Sharon pushing the button that sent the terrorists' planes crashing into the World Trade Center. This music video is exceedingly popular throughout the Arab world, and appears regularly on Arab satellite TV. "The Thieving, Zionist Enemy" By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook - January 13, 2006 PA TV recently broadcast a ceremony from Egypt celebrating the founding of the PLO in 1965. Barakat Al-Fara of the PLO, formerly deputy to the Palestinian ambassador to Egypt, spoke in the name of the Palestinian factions. His speech stressed that the origin of the conflict with Israel is not Israel's control of Judea and Samaria (West Bank) but is Israel's existence. His speech included the denying of Israel's right to exist, using the term "Zionist enemy" four times and refusing to say the word "Israel." "The Zionist enemy" he said is "oppressive," the "Zionist oppression and aggression [is] supported by world imperialism," and that "the Zionist enemy ... does not know the language of peace." Israel pre-1967 is called the "thieving enemy" and he glorifies Fatah, who in 1965 planted "hope in the heart of the Palestinian nation" - stressing the basis of conflict was Israel's existence - before Judea and Samaria and the Gaza Stip were under Israeli administration. Former Egyptian Ambassador Muhammad Basyuni and Usama Al-Baz, political advisor of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, attended the ceremony. PA Leadership Duplicity: PA leader By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook - January 11, 2006 Palestinian Media Watch has for years documented the duplicity of the Palestinian Authority leadership, which sends a peaceful message to the world media and hate and terror message to its own people in Arabic. A new example was documented this week, involving Palestinian Legislative Council member Qadura Faras. Faras has been a prominent supporter of the "Geneva Initiative," an unofficial peace proposal drafted in 2003 by a group of leftist Israelis led by Yossi Beilin and Palestinians, and appears on the Geneva Initiative website, conveying a message of peace to Israelis. However, when Faras recently addressed Palestinians, he used his speech to honor and praise a terrorist who murdered 10 Israelis. He further spoke in memory of one he called a "Shahid" [martyr for Allah], a term that places blame for his death on Israel - even though he had died of cancer in an Israeli prison. Finally, he pledged to continue in the path of these terrorists. This is a totally different Qadura Faras than the one promoting peace on the "Geneva Initiative" web site. The statements came as part of a 'question and answer' session on Internet portal Islam Online. The session was entitled 'Middle East future without Sharon?,' based on the widely held belief that Sharon's political career is at an end. Reproduced below is the transcript of the first question. It is interesting to note that in another question, a participant from Egypt alluded to a century-old Zionist conspiracy.
